What is Botox® and how does it work?
Botox® is an FDA-approved neurotoxin treatment in the form of a naturally occurring purified protein. Botox® works beneath the surface to temporarily decrease muscle activity that leads to frown lines, crow's feet, vertical lines, fine lines and wrinkles, softening their appearance. With over 30 years of active application and millions of treatments performed worldwide, Botox® is one of the most rigorously tested, safe and impactful procedures in non-invasive aesthetic medicine. Treatment takes just minutes to perform!
How much does Botox® cost?
The average cost of Botox® is about $15-$20 per unit, depending on your concerns and the areas selected for treatment. Some patients require less Botox® with each maintenance treatment performed, which can reduce overall costs.

How long do results from Botox® last?
The cosmetic improvements from Botox® last about 3-6 months for most patients. Often, we see that less Botox® is required over time with maintenance treatments, which are safe to perform for as long as desired!
Are there any side effects or risks from Botox®?
Side effects from Botox® differ by treatment area, and are often associated with unqualified or novice injectors. Most individuals tolerate Botox® well – however, rare side effects may include but are not limited to:
- Dry eyes
- Numbness
- Mild pain, swelling, bruising or redness around the injection area
- Headache
- Temporary eyelid droop
Those who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a neurological disease should not be treated with Botox®.
Is there any down time?
As Botox® is a non-invasive procedure performed in just minutes, no downtime is typically necessary – most patients may apply makeup and return to daily activities immediately following treatment! We recommend avoiding heavy exercise or pressing on the treatment area in the first 24 hours after injection.

What are dermal fillers made of and how do they work?
The Spa at West Ashley exclusively treats with FDA-approved dermal fillers, most of which are composed of hyaluronic acid (HA), a natural compound found in skin that aids in maintaining its plumpness and elasticity. Over time, this compound breaks down, leading to decreased facial volume and a looser appearance to the skin.
Dermal fillers enhance the cheeks, chin, lips and other areas of the face for an uplifted, fuller and refreshed appearance. At The Spa at West Ashley, we select from the RHA® Collection of fillers, Restylane®, Juvederm® family fillers, Belotero®, Revanesse® and Evolysse™ to best achieve patient goals and complement each unique skin type!
How much do dermal fillers cost?
The average cost for dermal fillers is about $700-$900 per syringe. The Spa at West Ashley's team is able to offer our fillers at an affordable rate for clients to suit a range of budgets.
What concerns can dermal fillers treat?
Dermal fillers are well-known for their ability to effectively treat or augment areas causing a variety of cosmetic concerns, including but not limited to:
- Smoothing wrinkles and creases

How long does dermal filler treatment last?
Depending on the filler formula you select with your injector, results from dermal filler treatment can last in the range of 6 to 18 months. We often perform maintenance treatments for our patients to sustain long-term results!
Are there any side effects or risks?
Because our dermal filler options are comprised of non-toxic ingredients compatible with the body, any side effects experienced by patients are typically mild and transient. These potential side effects may include:
- Redness, discoloration or bruising at the injection site
- Swelling and/or bumps
- Tenderness
- Firmness
- Itching

It's quite common to augment results from Botox® with a dermal filler such as Restylane®. This combination of procedures has often been referred to as a liquid facelift for its rejuvenating effect! Based on your individual concerns and goals, we will provide recommendations during your complimentary consultation.
What is your injectables treatment like?
Our injectables treatment plans begin with a complimentary consultation, during which time our experts will discuss your desired results with you and provide recommendations for optimal procedures. If treating with Botox®, Dysport® or Xeomin®, your muscle movements and expressions will be observed to customize treatment to your individual anatomy. Once a treatment plan is finalized, we will provide instructions on how to prepare for treatment.
On the day of your appointment, our staff will assist you in reaching your treatment room, where you will be comfortably seated after initial photos are taken! Areas targeted for treatment will then be sanitized to prepare for the procedure. In some cases, a numbing agent may be applied to minimize sensation. Your injector will then quickly and safely administer the injections of Botox® or filler through a very fine needle or blunt tip canula. The procedure is complete in just 15-30 minutes, and you will be on your way to enjoying long-lasting cosmetic results!
